Start with the problem
Provenance today is paper-based and fragmented across smallholders, collectors and processors; reconstructing a batch's history is slow, and exporters cannot easily meet import-market traceability or qualify for higher-value tiers.
A useful first experiment
Follow one real batch with willing supply-chain participants and test whether a buyer can verify its key records.
Evidence to work towards
These are targets described in the brief, not results already achieved or formal government performance indicators. Teams should validate feasibility and agree a baseline with a willing host.
- Consignment-level traceability for every pilot export batch, farm to consignment
- A tamper-evident provenance record an external buyer can verify via a time-limited link
- At least one commercial outcome — a buyer accepting the digital record over paperwork
Before a pilot starts
Identify a real user and decision-maker. Agree access, consent, data handling, supervision, costs and the smallest measurable test. Stop or change direction if the evidence does not support the idea.
